?Chapter 1078:
As they settled into the private room, the waiter handed them a tablet to ce their orders. “Since this is both Susan’s and my first time here, Docie, why don’t you go ahead and order? Choose whatever you think is good,” Madisyn said, smiling at the young woman.
Docie beamed and eagerly took the tablet, quickly making her choices.
Once she finished, Madisyn grabbed the tablet to check if anything else needed to be added. Her eyes scanned the list of Docie’s choices, and her fingers froze for a moment.
After a brief pause, Madisyn looked up, her expressionposed. “Docie, Susan is pregnant. Let’s order something milder and add a few light dishes.”
“Okay, all right,” Docie said with a quick nod before turning to Susan, her voiceced with sympathy. “Miss Riggs, it must be so hard for you to be pregnant and stuck eating nothing but nd food.”
Even though the ingredients hadn’t arrived, the barbecue restaurant’s air was thick with the tempting, spicy aroma. Susan, feeling queasy since stepping inside, mustered a strained smile. “It’s not that bad. Sure, there’s some physical difort, but deep down, I feel really happy.” After that, Susan fell silent. Madisyn noticed her difort and poured a ss of lemon water, sliding it across the table toward her.
Soon, the server brought over the prepared ingredients. Madisyn turned to Susan and said warmly, “Susan, what would you like? I’ll grill it for you.”
“Okay, thank you, Madisyn.”
Madisyn nodded and served her a bowl of chicken soup. Across the table, Docie picked up the te of shrimp Madisyn had ordered for Susan.
Madisyn nced at Docie, who smiled at her. “I usually go for a cheaper type of shrimp, but this one looks so good! Miss Johns, did you just add this to the order?”
Faced with Docie’s cheerful grin, Madisyn couldn’t quite pin down what she felt. She wanted to say something, but since Susan remained quiet, she simply replied, “This shrimp really is delicious. If you like it, feel free to have more.”
Docie’s eyes lit up. “Yeah, I will.”
Once they’d finished their barbecue, the trio returned to the Natural Beauty’s building.
Docie left for a meeting about coboration with the relevant team, while Susan and Madisyn stayed behind in the office, leisurely chatting until their conversation naturally drifted to Docie.
Susan leaned back in her chair, smiling as she praised Docie’s efficiency. “That girl is something else. She’s got the knack for sealing deals in just one meeting. Among the newbies, she’s risen the fastest.”
Madisyn nodded thoughtfully. “Sounds like she’s had quite the lucky streak. But sometimes, rushing ahead like that isn’t a good thing.”
