Chapter 1114

    ?Chapter 1114:

“Sweetheart, it’s been almost half an hour since the end of the workday. Why didn’t you tell me you were working overtime?”

Had it really been this long since the workday ended?

Madisyn had instructed her secretary to only disturb her for urgent matters, but she hadn’t intended to be so engrossed in her work that she’d lost track of time entirely. A pang of guilt made her turn off herputer and face Andrew.

“I’m sorry, I lost track of time. You should learn to be more flexible—I may not have told you, but you could have asked,” she said with a small, apologetic smile.

Andrew’s expression was one of gentle exasperation. “Sweetheart, I did try. I sent messages and called, but you never responded.”

“You did?” Madisyn reached for her phone, only to find itpletely dead.

Andrew crossed to her side with a resigned smile. “You got so absorbed in your work. Aren’t you exhausted after working all afternoon?”

Madisyn shook her head. Now that she had broken away from her task, she felt strangely unfulfilled. “I’m fine. Let’s head home—I can finish the rest there.”

Andrew didn’t press her about why she’d been so busy that day. Instead, his thoughts shifted to what delicious meal he could prepare to lift her spirits.

The drive home was quiet, save for the soft music ying through the speakers, Madisyn’s mind still tangled in the details of work.

At home, after washing her hands, Madisyn wandered into the kitchen, looking to help Andrew with dinner preparations.

Andrew, determined to keep her from working more, turned to her with a smile.

    “Give me your hand.”

    Madisyn extended one hand, curious.

“The other one too,” he added.

Bemused butpliant, Madisyn offered both hands. Andrew turned, retrieved a fruit bowl and an opened yogurt container from the counter, and ced them in her palms.

“Now, take these two things and head to the sofa. Go,” Andrew yfullymanded.

Madisyn nced down at her hands, then back at him, her heart melting at his thoughtful gesture. Rising on tiptoe, she pressed a soft kiss to his lips.

“Yes, sir! Right away!” she replied with a mischievous wink before leaving the kitchen.

The warmth of her kiss lingered as Andrew watched her go, a smile ying on his lips.

The next morning, Madisyn rose early. Over breakfast, still feeling guilty about making Andrew wait yesterday, she announced, “I’ll drive myself to the office today—no need to pick me up after work.” As she spoke, Madisyn had already snatched up the keys. Andrew wanted to protest, but the words caught in his throat.

“Okay, but if anything happens, contact me anytime, got it?” Andrew ruffled Madisyn’s hair with gentle affection.

Madisyn bobbed her head twice in quick session. “I know.”
