Just as Felix was about to turn away, Ernest saw him and called out, "Felix!"
With no other choice, Felix braced himself and walked over.
As expected, Xena frowned upon seeing him.
"Mr. Holt Senior, I''ll take my leave for now," she said.
Felix and Ernest had been neighbors back in Avesburgh. Since Xena came to know Felix''s medical skills, she expected that Felix would show up at Ernest''s birthday party tonight.
Ernest, without thinking too much, smiled and looked at Felix. "Felix, let me introduce you. This is my son, Isaac Holt, Sherlyn''s father"
Isaac, in the prime of his career, had a dominant presence. He spoke respectfully to Ernest but turned his sharp gaze toward Felix.
"Are you interrogating a criminal?" Ernest immediately chastised him.
A hint of helplessness shed in Isaac''s eyes.
Felix had charmed Sherlynpletely, and as her father, Isaac couldn''t even give him a stern look?
"Hello, Mr. Holt," Felix said as they shook hands.
Isaac nodded. "Hello. I''ve heard about you many times from my father and Sherlyn. Anyway, now that we''ve met, I must thank you for curing my father. It''s something the Holt family owes you.''
Isaac actually had a good impression of Felix. Not only had Felix healed Ernest without charging a single cent or making any demands, but he had also heard Ernest talk about what Felix had achieved at the orphanage. Thus, Isaac regarded the young man highly.
"Mr. Holt, that was my pleasure. I will always look out for those who need help. That was also the kind of values Dragonia has instilled in us. We especially can''t neglect the veterans who have contributed to the country."
This statement nearly made Isaac p in approval. It resonated with him perfectly. "Good! You''re exactly right! That''s why Dragonia is as united as a family."
Taking this moment, Felix wished Ernest a happy birthday. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw N approaching with Yvonne.
"Mr. Holt Senior, please tend to your other guests."
As N drew near, Felix did not even nce at her. He walked directly toward Yvonne instead.
Due to his status, he couldn''t join N in offering birthday wishes to Ernest, so he stood at a distance.
Yvonne felt wave of panic as Felix approached nearly stepping away.
"Yvonne, do you have to act like this?" Felix asked.
Yvonne looked at him without emotion. "Are we that close?"
With a sigh, Felix replied, "Regardless of everything, I remember your kindness. I also know you''re being forced into the uing engagement." Though she feigned indifference, Yvonne''s heartbeat quickened. It felt genuinely good andforting to be shown concern by those she loved.
"That''s my business, and it has nothing to do with you. Leave. Even if we meet again, don''t bother talking to me."
However, Felix didn''t intend to leave. Now that N wasn''t around and he had this rare chance to speak, he wanted to tell his thoughts.
"I was nning to visit you in Yartford the day after tomorrow. Since we''re here, I need to tell you
you something.
"I will be there on your wedding day. If you speak up, I, Felix Zeller, will stand by your side and shield you from any storm. No one, not even N, can force you to marry someone you don''t love!" 137. 137.
