Chapter 619

    ?Chapter 619:

Before she could finish, sharp smacks echoed through the air. Reba had struck her, hard and swift, cutting Lindy’s sentence off in a series of stinging ps.

“Keep up the nder, and this is what you’ll get,” Reba snapped, unable to stomach Lindy’s venomous insults any longer.

The sharp smacks left red welts, and fresh blood marred Lindy’s face where it hadn’t even healed yet.

“You bitch, how dare you hit me—” Lindy staggered back, her fury mounting as she raised her hand to retaliate.

But before she could, Reba smoothly intercepted, tripping her with a swift motion.

Lindy iled, losing her bnce, and with a clumsy ssh, she plunged into the river. As she bobbed up, her once-perfect makeup ran in streaks down her face, her hair stered in wet clumps, making her look like a drenched mess.

“Help… please, someone help!” she sputtered, gasping.

Reba watched her floundering with a coldugh. “Mrs. Stevens, maybe a little dip will teach you to watch that sharp tongue!”

There was nothing Reba loathed more than the sting of malicious rumors. Satisfied, she brushed off her hands as if wiping away dirt, then turned to Allison.

“Don’t worry, love. If she dares to cross you again, I’ll be here.”

Allison’s tone was unreadable, ced with a subtle edge. “I doubt she’ll find the courage for a second time.”

Mny, who had watched the scene in horrified silence, finally found her voice. Fearful she could be next, she tried to appeal to Allison.

“How can you just stand by and let Miss Green push Lindy into the water? She could have been seriously hurt!”

Ken, who had been observing quietly, cut in with a raised brow. “Pushed? How do you know Mrs. Stevens was pushed? Looked like she fell in all on her own!”

    Mny stammered, “But… everyone saw—”

Before she could finish, the onlookers took a collective step back.

“I didn’t see a thing. Don’t go making things up,” one muttered.

“Me neither. Mrs. Stevens must have just lost her footing.”

“Maybe she just slipped and went for an unexpected swim,” another remarked.

It was clear that the crowd had chosen their side. They all knew how these two were, so they just acted like they didn’t see anything. No one was about to cross Ken, and besides, they all knew Lindy’s and Mny’s tricks.

Mny’s mouth opened in disbelief, her frustration mounting.

    Were they all pretending?

Meanwhile, Lindy was still struggling in the water, her cries bing more frantic. “Someone, please, get me out of here!”

Darrel, his patience worn thin, finally ordered, “Alright, enough. You, go pull Mrs. Stevens out.”
