Chapter 644

    ?Chapter 644:

Though he was reluctant to part, Ken agreed, “Alright.” He watched her leave, her stride purposeful. The glint of her silver heels imprinted itself in his memory.

In the elevator, Allison checked her phone, noting several missed calls from unknown numbers. She answered, and a familiar voice demanded, “Are you with Ken just to spite me?”

Faint sobs from Mny filled the background.

“Colton,” she replied sharply, “instead of obsessing over me, maybe you shouldfort Miss Johnson. She sounds like she’s breaking down.”

Pausing, she added, “And by the way, we’ve been strangers for a long time now.” She made no effort to hide her rtionship with Ken. “So, my being with him is none of your business.”

With that, she hung up, blocking and deleting the numbers. Stepping out of the elevator into the bright lobby, Allison felt an undeniable lightness.

Despite three years together, Colton had never truly cared for her. Now that she had moved on, he clung, possessive and desperate.

But he didn’t deserve her anymore.

Those years had drained her of everything she once felt for him. Now, it was time to let go. She was finally ready to begin again.

Over the weekend, Allison received an unexpected call from Gordon.

“Allison, I got theb pass! I can even forge an ID for you to get in. Pretty impressive, right?” His voice carried a mix of excitement and pride.

“It’s a bit risky,” he added, his tone softening. “So, I’d like to go with you when the timees.”

By the end of the sentence, he sounded almost like he was pleading. “Is that okay?”

“You really are impressive,” Allison chuckled, but gently turned him down. “But you can’te with me into theb. There’s another role that suits you better.”

Rather than sneaking in together, Gordon would be more useful keeping watch from a distance, managing thework. With him in control of the digital side, it would be like having an invisible shield protecting her.

Gordon let out a reluctant, “Okay.”

He wasn’t exactly surprised — Allison had never brought anyone along on her missions.

Then Allison added, “Ken will be going with me. Gordon, I need you to arrange his pass too.”

    “Ken?”

At the mention of Ken, Gordon immediately bristled. But he knew that he couldn’t direct his frustration at Allison, so his voice turned both pitiful and aggrieved. “Why can he go, but I can’t?”

Allison sighed, knowing how to handle him. “Because your job is more important,” she reassured, her voice calm but firm. “If you’re with me and someone catches us on a security camera, or someone unexpected shows up at the door and we’re not prepared, we’re in serious trouble.”
