Chapter 709

    ?Chapter 709:

It was clear that Verruckt wasn’t ready to let her slip away so easily. His men were still sniffing out anyone connected to the web of secrets.

“Allison, I saw you leaving theb,” Gordon’s voice crackled in her earpiece, calm but edged with concern. “Do you need someone to pick you up?”

The city stretched vast and vacant before her, yet she felt the weight of unseen eyes. With every step, the silent watchers grew louder in her mind. She offered Gordon no reply, her lips pressed into a firm line.

Sensing the unusual silence, Gordon asked again, his voice sharper. “Is it inconvenient for you to talk right now?” Still, she remained mute, her focus fixed on her surroundings.

A pharmacy at the corner of the street caught her eye, and without breaking stride, she veered toward it. The move was seamless, almost as if she had intended to stop there all along. The staff of the pharmacy, nestled in a sparsely popted area, weed her with warmth and routine.

“Wee to Stede Pharmacy. How can we assist you today?” Through her earpiece, Gordon caught the interaction and quickly triangted her position.

His voice softened as he ryed, “You’re close to Sanrik District. Head east and cross one more street — it’s the perfect ce to lose whoever’s tailing you.”

Allison acknowledged his advice silently, turning her attention to the clerk. “Could you get me hemostatic medicine and bandages, please?” Her tone was calm and measured.

    “Of course.”

The casual response from Allison to the pharmacy staff eased Gordon’s tension. Her subtle acknowledgment of his advice confirmed that she was following the n. With a small sigh of relief, he set down the earpiece and turned toward Amya. “I’m heading out to pick her up. Keep a close eye on Ken through surveince. Make sure nothing happens to him — Allison has enough on her te without having to worry about him as well.”

Amya nodded knowingly. She paused, then asked, “Should we inform Mr. Lloyd about Verruckt’s movements?”

Gordon’s gaze hardened as he nced at the feed showing Ken nursing his wounds in the maintenance department.

    “No,” he replied curtly.

In fact, Ken’s injuries, though severe, were a lesser concern to Gordon.

    “Alright,” Amya nodded.

Following Gordon’s directions, Allison soon found herself in the heart of the Sanrik District. It was a cacophony of chaos — a stained canvas painted with graffiti, blood, and despair. Shadows flitted between corners where addicts and vagrants lingered. The air reeked of decay and marijuana, a nauseating cocktail of urban neglect.

The people tailing Allison arrived here too. They tread cautiously, their unease evident as they scanned the disarray around them.
