?Chapter 738:

Jareth quickly took Allison back. As they reached the apartment building, Allison smiled and said, “Thank you so much, Mr. Williamson.”

Once Jareth’s car pulled away, her smile faded instantly.

Allison stood still in the elevator, her face nk as it dropped to the basement. As soon as the doors opened, the sharp, metallic scent of blood filled the air. Her heart tightened in her chest. She noticed a bloodstained path leading to the makeshift medical room.

When she entered the room, she found that the stench of blood grew even stronger.

    “What happened?” she immediately asked.

Amya and Gordon were working hard to treat Ken’s injuries. Most of the wounds were burns from the explosion, some of the toughest to treat, especially without proper medical supplies in the basement.

“You’re finally here, Ms. rke,” Amya said, her eyes red from worry. “Mr. Lloyd came back badly hurt. He didn’t even get a chance to say much before he passed out from blood loss. He’s only just woken up.”

Allison froze for a second, but quickly regained herposure. “Let me see.”

She carefully disinfected her hands and put on gloves before entering the makeshift medical room.

“How is he now?” she asked.

Gordon, holding hemostats and a scalpel, looked serious and said, “It’s tough. The wound is barely holding together with stitches, and we don’t have the right anesthetic here.”

“I’ll take over,” Allison said, reaching for the hemostats. She stared at the man with a pale face, her eyes full of both sadness and anger. “Ken.”

At the sound of Allison’s voice, Ken slowly opened his eyes and took a moment to focus. His voice was rough when he said, “You’re back.”

“I’m back,” Allison answered, her hands still working.

She tried tofort him. “Don’t fight it. Just stay awake. We’ll take care of this. Once we’ve stitched you up, we can get you the medication, and you’ll be alright.” Allison’s presence seemed to soothe him.

Ken, breathing heavily, kept his eyes on her, as though her mere gaze could make the pain bearable.

After the wound was stitched, Amya could tell Allison needed some space. She found a way to excuse herself and Gordon. “Mr. Herbert, we need to go get the medication.”

“Yes, I know,” Gordon answered, giving Allison a long, meaningful look before turning to leave.

He was fully aware of the bond between Allison and Ken. And he knew that Ken couldn’t die now — everything would fall apart if he did.
