    Mny ced a hand over her stomach, her eyes mirroring sorrow. “I’m pregnant.”


    In a dim corner of the room, Allison caught the exchange, and a wry smile touched her lips.


    Mny was pregnant? How oddly timely.


    Colton’s hand balled into a fist, his eyes piercing Mny with a hard stare. “When did this happen?”


    “Last month.” Mny choked out through tears. “Your mom’s been battling those awful headaches, and you’ve been off. I thought I’d keep it under wraps. I nned to wait until your mom felt better to spring the surprise.” Realizing her trustworthiness was in question, she pressed her point home. “If you’re having doubts, we can go to the hospital for a check-up whenever you want. Look, I’ve even saved the ultrasound pictures on my phone…”


    Handing over her phone, she continued, tears streaking down her cheeks. “Colton, I haven’t lied to you, I promise.”


    Taking the phone, Colton scrutinized the details — doctor’s signatures, patient info, and the dates. And he remembered that they had indeed been intimatest month.


    This revtion should have been joyful, yet it threw Colton’s thoughts into disarray. He had often fantasized about starting a family with the woman he loved. Now, the thought seemed like some cruel prank. He had been with the wrong person from the start.


    “Tomorrow, after I grab the meds from theb, I’ll take you back to Ontdale for a thorough check-up,” Colton stated, his voice icy. “From here on out, you’ll be staying with the Stevens family to get ready for the baby. Forget about thepany.”


    Allison wasn’t startled by his decree. Colton had always had a soft spot for kids.


    However, for Mny, these words sliced through the air with anotheryer of meaning.


    “Alright, I’ll follow your lead,” Mny replied, her voice edged with a quiet defiance.


    She understood that she had lost her grip on power. Yet, securing a ce with the Stevens family was her priority now. She grasped Colton’s hand, tears cascading earnestly down her cheeks. “Colton, I’m truly sorry. I won’t keep secrets again. So, can we go back together tonight?”


    Colton, however, removed her fingers one at a time, his face devoid of emotion. “The one who deserves your apology isn’t me. It’s Allison.”


    He nced down at Mny’s tear-streaked face, struggling to fathom her callousness. “You’re right. I’ve hurt her so much. I need to apologize.” Mny clutched her belly, her voice breaking. “I can apologize to Allison in person when we get back to Ontdale—”
