Chapter 808

    ?Chapter 808:

Positioned at the entrance of the stairwell, she coughed. As she had anticipated, the faint sounds of breathing in the stairwell halted instantly.

Allison detected someone holding their breath, stealthily making their way up to her floor.

With a tactical knife in hand, she scaled the wall, using both hands to hoist herself into a corner just above the door.

Momentster, the fire door creaked open. Several men in ck suits stepped in, guns at the ready, eyes scanning the area.

“Strange, there’s no one here. I definitely heard coughing,” one murmured as they continued their search. The blend of footsteps and whispered conversations filled the stairwell. None of them noticed Allison poised above.

She focused on thest man in line. In the enveloping darkness, she hung upside down. In a sh, she reached out and swiftly snapped the man’s neck.

The unsuspecting men in ck hadn’t heard a sound when Allison sprang into action. She swiftly took down another man in the gloom.

Just then, a burst of static erupted from the radio strapped to the first casualty’s waist. “Everyone, gather on the fifth floor!”

That was the moment the team grasped the grim reality: their captain, who was supposed to be guarding the fire exit, was now lying on the floor motionless.

shlights swung in unison, and they found that both their captain and a team member were dead.

A collective breath hitched in the air. “High alert!”

Allison closed in on one of the men, her de shing in a swift, decisive arc. His artery gave way, blood jetting out, some droplets catching the harsh light of the shlights.

“There’s someone here!” The realization dawned on them atst.

They waved their shlights in panic, managing only to catch elusive glimpses of her, moving like a wraith through the shadows. “Shoot… shoot quickly!”

In their haste, the men fumbled with their guns. This slight hesitation was all Allison needed; she swiftly dispatched her foes.

The corridor fell silent again, no gunfire disturbing the eerie calm.

Allison casually selected a room, used a damp towel to wipe her knife, and cleanse her blood-stained fingers.

With a soft thud, she dropped the towel to the floor. She cracked open the fire exit door, only to find herself mistakenly on the sixth floor.

The radio’s call to rally on the fifth floor echoed in her mind, along with Jareth’s tip about a secret passage there. Time was slipping away, and with the fifth floor likely crawling with adversaries, the secret passage was no longer an option.

Allison paused, considering her next move.
