?Chapter 945:

“Yes, that was me,” Allison answered quietly, exchanging a look of surprise with Ken.

This was a good sign — Kinslee’s memory seemed to being back. She was even starting to recall moments from the time she had struggled with dementia.

“These years have been a blur,” Kinslee added. “It’s like I was lost in a dream.”

Though her eyes were clouded, Kinslee’s words were sharp and clear.

“It’s because of both of you that I’m getting better,” she said.

She had never imagined she would regain her rity in this lifetime.

After taking a breath, she continued, “Allison, I can’t say for sure what happened to Lily back then, but I know she wasn’t the kind of person to just leave you behind. There always seemed to be someone after her. She was constantly on the run, and after giving birth to you, life became even harder for her. But she never once thought about giving you up.”

Her eyes sparkled with unshed tears, and she wiped them away with a handkerchief.

“She seemed to know that one day, she might be separated from you. That’s why she asked me to look after you when that time came. But I failed her… It’s my fault… my foolishness.”

Allison reached out gently and took Kinslee’s hand in hers. “Kinslee, this isn’t your fault. The fact that you can tell me about the past now is the biggest help you could give me,” Allison said softly.

She had once believed her mother had abandoned her. But now, it seemed that her mother had left to protect her.

As she pieced together the information she had learned from Lilian, it became clear: her mother had been targeted by the Immortality Group. But she still didn’t understand what that chip was, though.

Ken, too, felt a surge of emotions inside him.

“Grandma, if I’m not wrong, that was also the year my mom passed away,” he said quietly.

“Yes, Gianna was upset with your father,” Kinslee said, coughing sharply, her anger evident. “Brookpletely forgot about Gianna as soon as he found someone else!”

Just recalling it made her blood boil.

“Even I, his own mother, didn’t know when he started being unfaithful. He even brought the other woman into our home. I think Gianna became so heartbroken she ended up taking her own life because of this…” As she spoke, tears flowed down her face without stopping. Her hands shook uncontrobly.

“Thank goodness, both of you are okay.”

Ken gripped her hand firmly, his tone icy. “Don’t worry, I won’t let them get away with this.”

The only reason he hadn’t cut ties with his father, Brook, was because his mother’s business was still under his control. His father had the nerve to give some of thepany’s shares to his illegitimate son.
