?Chapter 948:
“Ouch—” Ken let out a soft groan, a small smile tugging at his lips. “That’s a real shame,” he said.
Then he handed her a towel and some fresh clothes. “I’ll take a shower in the next room. You must be exhausted after today, so get some rest once you’re done,” he told her.
The day’s journey had drained her.
Allison nodded and said, “Okay, see youter.”
She really needed a hot shower to ease her tiredness at this moment.
As she stepped into the bathroom, the steam began to fill the room, and her stiff muscles slowly started to loosen. The water rushed soothingly.
She nced down at the marks on her body from Verruckt’s attack. They were nearly healed now, but the feeling of danger from that man still clung to her like a shadow.
Her mood turned serious all of a sudden. Even though the newspapers imed theboratory’s owner was dead, Verruckt’s body had never been shown to the public. If he were still alive, he would surely cause trouble in the future.
“Never mind, it’s no use worrying about that,” she muttered to herself.
Allison took a deep breath. She had already left Fleeinnd and arrived in Ontdale. Even if Verruckt were alive, he would likely be in bad shape by now. After all, the attacks she had made on him back then had been deadly.
As Allison stepped out of the bathroom, her phone rang.
“Darling Allison! Did you make it home today?”
“Yes, I’m at the Lloyd house now,” Allison replied.
“Wow, things are moving fast between you two,” came Reba’s surprised response.
Allison smiled. “Then what about you? How’s everything with Ferdinand?”
“Don’t even get me started on him. It’s so frustrating!” Rebained.
Over the phone, she went on to vent about Ferdinand’s annoying habits. “It’s all his fault. He’s been feeding me so much. I’ll probably gain weight again by tomorrow…”
Despite theints, Allison could hear the happiness in her voice.
Before hanging up, Reba sighed. “I’m so d you’re back. I felt so lonely without anyone to talk to.”
“I guess you won’t be lonely for long,” Allison said with a smile, opening herptop to catch up on work.
On the other end, Reba could hear the clicking of keys and the mouse.
Thinking Allison was busy, Reba took the lead and said, “Darling Allison, don’t stay up toote. Get some rest soon. I’m heading to bed myself.”
“Okay,” Allison replied, “I’ll sleep soon.”
But after hanging up, she knew she couldn’t go to bed soon, as the work was still piling up like a mountain.
Recalling the news from Kinslee, Allison decided to call Amya. “When you have a moment, take a look at the Hacker’s World program. I’ll be restarting it in a few days.”
