?Chapter 970:

“Allison, I cherish you too,” he said.

Without her, he might have stayed lost in darkness for a lifetime. The greatest gift fate had given him was the chance to change. Ken gently lifted her hand and pressed his lips to her fingers.

“I’ll always be the sharpest sword in your hand, no matter what,” he promised.

Allison’s fingers were cold, but they soon warmed under his kiss. She looked at him, tilting her head innocently, and asked, “So, does that mean I’m the executioner?”

Ken smiled softly. “Don’t worry, I’ll do it for you and won’t let you get your hands dirty.”

Allison grinned, her eyes turning into gentle crescents. The heaviness in her heart slowly began to fade.

“By the way, Mny is pregnant.” Allison briefly told him about what had happened at the Stevens’ house that day. “But Colton ns to divorce her after the baby is born. He wants me to help him raise the child.” As she spoke, a hint of mockery appeared in her expression.

Ken let out a bitterugh. “Who does he think he is?”

He couldn’t believe Colton had the nerve to act that way. On top of that, thiste attempt at affection waspletely meaningless.

“Allison, don’t let that fool get to you—”

But before he could say more, Allison raised a finger to her lips, signaling for silence.

“Wait, someone’s nearby.” Her face hardened in an instant. Allison was sure she had heard strange soundsing from behind the ruins.

Ken, however, didn’t pick up on it.

“I only hear the wind,” he said.

“There’s wind, but something’s blocking it,” Allison replied, her voice tense.

Having spent years on the ind, she had be acutely sensitive to her surroundings, as every detail was burned into her memory.

In an instant, she sensed something was off.

    “Someone’sing,” she warned.

Her brows furrowed in concern. They were getting closer!

Just as she and Ken were about to move, about ten men in ck appeared from behind the ruins, their guns aimed at Allison.

“The boss was right. He knew you woulde back here eventually, Ms. rke,” a tall man said, lifting his gun. “Give us the key to Hacker’s World, and maybe I’ll spare you both.”

Allison had heard this threat countless times, so she wasn’t surprised or scared at all. She knew well that they wouldn’t make a move without getting the key first.

“I’ll give it to you,” she said nonchntly, exchanging a quick look with Ken.
