Melody pretended not to have heard anything and turned to look out of the window.


    Lucas suppressed his annoyance and patiently said, "Melody, I''m talking to you."


    Melody turned her head slightly, but quickly turned it back. ''How could he ask me that when he was the one going with Ste to meet with Mister Shaun!'' It was as if she was the one in the wrong.


    Lucas'' patience had run out by then. He had taken the initiative to speak to her twice, but both times he was ignored.


    "Stop the car," he ordered.


    Upon hismand, the driver immediately parked the car at the nearest avable spot and turned to ask, "Mister Lucas, do you need me to get out?"


    "Yeah."


    The driver left the car swiftly, leaving only the two of them inside. Lucas forced Melody to turn and face him.


    "Melody, I''m talking to you. Didn''t you hear me?"


    Forced to meet his gaze, Melody sighed reluctantly. "I heard you."


    "Then why didn''t you answer me?" Lucas frowned when he saw the displeasure on her face.


    He personally approached Shaun to ensure that Melody faced less hardship in the entertainment industry. Instead of thanking him, she ignored him! ''She''s truly an ungrateful woman!'' he thought.


    Melody looked at him resentfully. "Didn''t youe with Miss Ste? What are you doing here with me instead? You should''ve stayed with her!"


    "I came with Ste?" Lucas frowned. "Who told you that?"


    Melody pouted. ''He''s still trying to lie to me, even now?''


    "I don''t need anyone to tell me that. I saw it myself! Otherwise, why would you meet with Mister Shaun so early in the morning?"


    "So you thought I went to see Shaun for Ste?" Lucas'' mood lightened when he heard this, and a small smirk appeared on his face. ''Ah, so she''s jealous!'' he thought.

    "For me?" Melody was surprised and, frankly, somewhat skeptical. After all, why would Lucas go to see Shaun for a contract wife?


    Seeing that she did not believe what he said, Lucas sighed helplessly. "I happened to know Shaun, so I went to ask him to take care of you on the set, lest you be bullied because of your clumsiness." Melody was even more shocked. ''Is he really telling the truth? Did he really go to Mister Shaun to ask him to take care of me on set because he was worried I''d be taken advantage of? But why?'' "Did you...really go see Mister Shaun for my sake?"


    Lucas patiently exined to her again, "Yes, I went to see Shaun for you. I''ve said it so many times. Do you believe me now?"


    Melody truly did not believe, or perhaps she dared not believe.
