?Chapter 2779
Sherman shook his head. "It''s nothing, probably just my imagination."Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDra/ma.O(r)g!
ire started to panic, so she quickly reassured him, "Let''s go. I told you nobody apart from my fans would recognize me. See, nobody else is paying attention to me at all."
Once they were back in the car, Sherman breathed a sigh of relief and smiled. "I''m pretty sure more and more people will know you in the future, and you won''t be able to go out shopping like this anymore."
ire held the bag of donuts tightly but did not seem to want to eat any. "Is that so? I''m actually looking forward to that day."
"I thought you wouldn''t like always being in the spotlight. Judging by your personality, don''t you prefer freedom more? You don''t even like giving interviews."
ire hugged the donuts closer. "It''s not that I don''t like giving interviews; I just don''t like random reporters asking me random questions. They''re more interested in my gossip than my dancing, so there''s no point in epting their interviews."
"So that''s why you chose Rita," blurted Sherman, surprising ire.
"I thought you didn''t pay attention to my schedule."
"I met her privately a couple of times because of her father andter realized that the unpleasantness of our first meeting was all due to misunderstandings. I actually find her quite straightforward and easy to get along with after that," Sherman exined.
ire''s heart sank. It was the first time she had heard Sherman speak so highly of another woman. Almost instinctively, she began to argue, "How do you know she''s not just putting on an act to tter you? You should know what these women, who flock to you like moths to a me, are after."''
Sherman frowned. He did not like ire''s assessment of Rita. "As I said, neither of us knew each other''s identities at first. She didn''t know I was her father''s guest, and I didn''t know she was a Russell. Besides, I''m not that naive. I can perfectly tell whether she''s genuinely straightforward or pretending to be."
ire looked hurt. "You''ve only met her a few times, yet you''re taking her side against me. Sherman. I don''t mean any harm. I just don''t want to see you get hurt again. If you don''t like me speaking ill of Rita, then I''ll stop,"
Despite ire''s outwardposure, her turned-away face betrayed her displeasure.
Sherman sighed inwardly, feeling weary.
He decided to drive straight to the underground parking lot of the cinema. After turning on the car''s overhead light, he gently tugged at ire''s arm. "I was wrong, okay? Please stop crying."
ire stubbornly pushed his hand and said in a choked voice, "No, I''m the one who should be sorry for being so suspicious. Why don''t you watch the movie with Rita instead if you like her so much?"
"What are you talking about? I''m not that close to her," Sherman replied.
ire turned back to him, her eyes widened in shock. "Don''t tell me you''ve already thought about going to the movies with her! When did you be so naive?"
Sherman was starting to feel impatient. "I haven''t thought about it at all. I was just following your lead. Besides, Miss Rita isn''t like how you described her."
