?Chapter 407:

    ?? ?? ?? ?? ??

She expected Ken to brush it off like he always did, attributing his actions to self-interest. He could have easily told her he saved her because she was important to his family. After all, she had healed Lorna and would help Kinslee too.

But this time, he answered the question seriously.

“I did it because I care about you, Ms. rke,” Ken said, his voice low and sincere. He was very earnest and calm.

Allison was taken aback, pletely caught off guard. Attempting to lighten the mood, she teased, “Of course, I’m useful to you…”

“It’s not that, Ms. rke,” Ken interrupted, his dark eyes locking onto hers. “I just don’t want you to get hurt. Not even a little bit.”

The intensity in his gaze made the air between them feel heavier. Allison could feel the weight of his words pressing down on her, the room suddenly quiet and charged with something deeper. He wasn’t joking; he was serious.

His deep eyes pulled her in, like whirlpools drawing her closer.

As the silence stretched, his voice broke through, quiet but full of meaning. “You’re worth it.”

Those simple words struck harder than any grand deration of love. To him, she was worth risking everything, his life included.

    He meant every word.

Allison’s fists tightened. “Ken, do you even understand what you’re saying?”

“I do, but don’t feel any pressure. I don’t expect anything from you, Ms. rke,” he replied firmly.

There was a wager between them, a game of who could unravel the other’s secrets first. Whoever did woulde out on top.

Allison didn’t respond, only frowning at the man before her.

It would be a lie if she said she wasn’t touched by his words.

But she had long stopped allowing herself to dream of those far-off, unreachable things. Love, marriage, promises… They all felt like fleeting fantasies, like bubbles waiting to burst.

Ken broke the silence, his voice steady but with a hint of mischief. “As for the bet between us, I’ve made progress. I’ve uncovered your first secret.”

He reminisced about the thrill of the race, the rush of danger.

    “You’re quite the skilled racer.”

Allison clicked her tongue in amusement. “And so are you. You’re none other than the infamous champion racer, Turbo.”

Her gaze narrowed, eyes gleaming with curiosity. “You have more hiddenyers than I do, Mr. Lloyd.”

Who would have guessed that the cold, distant CEO of the Lloyd Group was the same man dominating the underground racing scene? For years, rumors had swirled about him being a madman in a wheelchair, but no one knew the truth.
