?Chapter 584:
“Mrs. Stevens, if you’re that eager to gather a crowd, I could easily help with that. Don’t make it soplicated.” He gave a slight nod, and in the distance, a few men dressed in dark suits began stepping forward, ready for action.
“My people are actually nearby.”
His dark eyes held an icy chill, a quiet authority that seemed to freeze anyone who dared meet his stare.
As he moved closer, the tension only suffocated the room.
“Once the situation heats up, my people can handle the cleanup afterward,” Ken said.
He trusted Allison to take care of the details, preferring not to interfere in her methods.
But he wasn’t naive. One look at Lindy and Mny, and he saw right through their little game. Their act repulsed him.
“What kind of people stoop to this…”
Lindy’s eyes widened in surprise, catching Ken’s displeasure. Mny followed the man’s gaze, her own turning to the men in ck positioned just a few steps away.
They had known Ken wielded influence, but no one had expected him to bring an entourage for what seemed like a casual day out.
The men looked rough, masked in dark attire. These weren’t mere bodyguards. Assassins, she thought. After all, Ken was such a powerful man.
“No, Mr. Lloyd, you’ve got it wrong,” Mny said, her hands knotting together as she fought to keep her innocent edge. “We were only concerned about Colton.”
Allison, watching the exchange, allowed a faint smile to touch her lips.
She knew Ken was lying through his teeth, but hismanding presence made deception feel like an art form. Those men in ck weren’t just bodyguards — they had been assigned to monitor Reba and Ferdinand’s date.
Lindy, unaware of the true situation, grew visibly anxious at Ken’s words. Her forced smile did little to hide the fear in her eyes.
“Yes… yes, Mr. Lloyd, we didn’t mean anything by it,” she stammered.
Ken’s reputation preceded him. He was a ruthless beast, relentless with those who dared to cross him.
Tales circted of an assassin who’d attempted to challenge him, only to meet a gruesome end overseas within a day. As she stumbled through her words, a shiver crept up Lindy’s spine, her voice shrinking into an awkward murmur. “Allison…”
Allison stepped forward, looking as cold as usual, stoic and stone.
There was a quiet but unmistakable menace in Allison’s stance. Lindy’s hand rose reflexively to shield her face, fear shing in her eyes.
“W-What… what are you nning to do?”
“Nothing at all. Just reminding you of your limits. If you’re done with your little show, then get out of here.”
