?Chapter 587:
But the damage was already done.
Allison smirked. “Plenty of cameras were there. So whether I’m lying or not, you already know the truth.” There was a mocking tone in her voice. “Interesting, though, you never cared about Colton. But suddenly, you’re all concerned.” Her wordsnded like a bombshell.
The crowd gasped, reaching for their phones to dig for more gossip.
“Whoa, this is getting good! Can we really just stand here and listen to all this drama for free?”
“Who’d have guessed? They look so proper, but behind closed doors, there’s so much scandal.”
“So, Miss Johnson and her ex-husband are still close?”
“Poor Colton, his wife, and his mother both have, let’s say, questionable connections with other men.”
The murmuring cut through the air like knives, each whisper stinging Lindy with the humiliation of public exposure. She looked like she wanted to disappear.
Enraged, she could no longer maintain herposure. “Allison! Quit spreading lies!”
Sensing that Lindy was on the verge of snapping, Ferdinand took the opportunity to stir the pot a little more.
“Now, now, Lindy, before you worry about clearing your name, maybe you should consider those situations with certain employees. If there’s any truth to them, it wouldn’t take much for our family to uncover.”
As the sole heir to the kely family, his calm smile held a hint of menace.
Lindy’s face went pale as she remembered many of the ces she’d visited with her lover were owned by the kelys. Whether Ferdinand had proof or not, she was too terrified to push any further.
Watching Lindy’s confidence crumble, Rebaughed out loud. “This is better than a show! I love it!” she cheered, pping as she was thoroughly enjoying the spectacle. “It’s obvious to anyone with half a brain that you’re all just here to squeeze some money out of this.”
Lindy, the dignified Mrs. Stevens, was now openly used of being a swindler out for a payout. She couldn’t swallow the insult.
“This is going too far! Allison and my son were married for three years, so what’s wrong with wanting her to help him out?”
Lindy shot to her feet, herst ounce of caution slipping away as fury took over. But after her earlier performance of crocodile tears, her mascara was a mess. Dark smudges surrounded her eyes, swollen and reddened, giving her a look of madness.
Ken raised his gaze, looking at her with nothing short of contempt, as though she were a sideshow attraction.
“Lindy, if you’re going to throw a fit, maybe aim it at the right person.”
Mny, hiding at the back, froze at his words.
