Chapter 588

    ?Chapter 588:

Ken continued with his cutting tone, “Last night, it was Miss Johnson who thought she could win a bet and joined. Turns out, she misjudged herself and lost. And Colton — ever the white knight — yed the hero and got himself detained.” He leaned back, stressing his disdain with every word. “And yet here you are, ming Allison. Foolish and wicked — what abination.”

Mny was rendered speechless. Her face paled at his usation, while Lindy simply stared, ck-jawed.

All this time, Lindy had convinced herself it was Allison who had lured Colton into that den of debt and despair, tching him to Muisvedo’s underground casino and its ruthless collectors. But now, the ugly truth twisted before her eyes: Mny was the real culprit, the one who had dragged her son down!

It all made sense now, why the girl had been so evasive, glossing over crucial details. She was hiding it — trying to keep her hands clean.

Lindy’s shock turned to a slow-simmering rage, and as she turned to Mny, her gaze narrowed with the heat of her wrath. “Mny.” The name was a barely restrained growl. The moment their eyes met, Lindy’s rage erupted.

In a swift motion, she raised her hand and struck Mny’s cheek with a resounding p. Her whole body was practically shaking with fury.

“So, it was you, you reckless little thing! You gambled and lost, then roped my son into your mess!”

Unable to go after Allison or the others, Lindy poured all her fury into Mny, the one person she knew wouldn’t fight back.

The onlookers gasped, but Lindy was too far gone to care. The years of pent-up anger she’d buried deep inside had finally bubbled over, and now she was letting it all out.

“If it weren’t for you, Colton wouldn’t have suffered like this! You ungrateful wrecker of homes!”

Raised in luxury and unustomed to anything so crude, Mny stood there, her cheek burning, a vivid red mark spreading across her delicate skin. She looked startled and disheveled, but not a trace of sympathy showed on anyone’s face. She tried to muster a defense, her voice cracking, “Colton and I are married — we’re a team. If he helped me, that was his decision— Ah!”

Her words were cut short as Lindy’s hand struck her again, faster and harder. Seeing Lindy’s hand rising for yet another blow, Mny realized the woman hadpletely lost her mind!

This time, Mny didn’t hold back. She grabbed Lindy’s wrist mid-swing, holding her off.

“Lindy! I never told you Colton lost any money! All I said was he’d been detained at the casino. I was panicking! I didn’t give you every detail. And it’s not like you even asked me to exin!” Her words only added fuel to Lindy’s fury.

“How dare you talk back to me like that!” Lindy seethed, her voice rising. “You fed me half-truths and left me to assume the worst. Do you really think I don’t see you for what you are?”

The two women, once allies in ying the victim, now turned on each other, each showing their true colors. And the young man who had stood up for them earlier found himself painfully out of ce, hovering awkwardly nearby.
