Chapter 593

    ?Chapter 593:

“For Colton, I can agree. But you’d better keep your promise.”

She always yed the role of a delicate yet strong woman, but now, that fragility slipped. She grabbed Lindy’s wrist and, in one fluid motion, swung it and pped her own face.

The sound of the p rang out — a sharp, crisp echo that filled the air.

Lindy’s heart skipped. The p hadn’t been harsh, but it wasn’t soft either.

    It had been… calcted.

That was when she understood the assignment. It was an act. She had been married into a wealthy family for years, and the one thing she nevercked was acting skills!

“For Colton,” she said quietly, her voice softening with a maternal tenderness that only a mother could convey. “As his mother, any hardship is worth it.”

She turned away as she spoke, blinking back the bitter rush of tears. Her eyes were beetroot-red, streaked with feigned pain, as if she had suffered a great injustice.

But it only made Allison smirk coldly.

“A single p, and you’re acting like the world’sing to an end? If it’s too much for you, feel free to walk away.”

Lindy’s lips pressed into a thin line.

The cruel words stung more than the p ever could. She gritted her teeth, struggling to maintain herposure. “I’ll be pped in public. What more do you want?”

Allison remained unfazed. “What more do I want? A p for seven hundred thousand… What could you possibly have left toin about?” The crowd around them buzzed with amusement, their whispers sharper, more judgmental.

“Seeing her like this… could she be regretting it?”

“Miss Green’s generosity is something else. Seven hundred thousand for just a p? Whose face is worth that much after just a few ps?”

“I don’t know, but I’d be willing to volunteer if they don’t want it.”

Theughter, the mocking stares — they all felt like needles against Lindy’s skin. She wanted to scream, tosh out, but she couldn’t.

Mny was fuming, her fists clenched at her sides until her face was red-hot. She just wanted to pounce on Allison and tear her apart! But she had to y it another way. She lowered her gaze, her voice trembling with feigned desperation.

“Allison, can’t you just let it go? Do you really want to make the Stevens family theughingstock of this town?”

Lindy’s hate for Allison had simmered for too long — and now, with Mny deliberately involving the whole Stevens family, she felt like she could explode. “Allison, you’re pushing this too far!” she spat.

But as her gaze lifted, the words lodged in her throat. Ken was standing beside Allison, ring daggers at her. His gaze was cool and lethal. Each glint in his eye was like a silent warning.

A chill washed over Lindy, cooling her anger to something much sharper: fear. One wrong move, one misced word, and she sensed she’d suffer more than a bruised pride.
