?Chapter 676:

On the other end of her earpiece, Gordon’s voice rang with a hint of impatience. “You’re still enjoying coffee, Allison? We’re all on edge, and those four by theb door haven’t budged.” The space in front of theb was narrow, and if the four guards didn’t clear out soon, Allison wouldn’t be able to use Rowan’s fingerprint to unlock the door. “Rx, I’ve got a n.”

Casually, she took another iced coffee from the fridge, ced it in the microwave, set the timer for three minutes, and closed the door. Gordon, watching from surveince, instantly caught on. “Got it.” He quickly switched the surveince feed back to theb entrance.

Sure enough, Allison soon appeared on-screen, her footsteps measured, her movements as precise as the ticking of a metronome. Gordon silently counted down in his mind as Allison neared theb door.

    Three… two… one—

In the break room, the countdown hit zero, and the microwave began to hum. The metal can inside rapidly built pressure from the microwave’s intense resonance, and as it reached its breaking point, the can burst with a sharp, booming sound. The explosion echoed like thunder through the entire first basement level.

    “Where did that explosion happen?”

In thisb, people were finely tuned to the slightest noise of firearms and explosions. At that very moment, those working in the area instinctively ducked beneath their desks, while others near the entrance bolted toward the sound’s source. Amid the chaos, Allison seized the moment and stepped out from her hiding spot in the corner.

With quick precision, she slipped on Rowan’s fingerprint gloves and unlocked theb door.

    “Gordon, it’s set.”

Upon hearing that, Gordon immediately alerted Ken on the first floor. “Cut the power, now!”

Ken, sharp and unflinching in a crisis, responded without dy. Instantly, the entire research facility plunged into darkness. In the same breath, the surveince screens in front of Gordon went pitch ck.

Amya’s voice trembled slightly. “What now?”

She had been tracking the movements of others for Allison. Just as she spotted Jareth bolting from his office, the screens went dark, making her heart skip a beat.

Gordon kept a level head, though his fists clenched in reflex. “Rx. If I were the brains behind thisb, I’d have a backup for the surveince systems.”

As he anticipated, about five minutester, the screens flickered back to life.

Amya wasted no time searching for Jareth — he was the most unpredictable, the wild card. But he was nowhere to be seen on any monitor covering the first basement level. Amya’s face went pale.
